Hong Kong’s critically endangered Yellow-crested Cockatoos, Cockatoo systematics and the illegal wildlife trade

Two postdoctoral researchers in the lab have been studying the Yellow-crested and Sulphur-crested Cockatoos and their intraspecifc diversity across their native ranges. In addition, although native to Indonesia, critically endangered Yellow-crested Cockatoos have established themselves in Hong Kong with a thriving population. Research on the genetics of yellow-crested cockatoos and the illegal wildlife trade in Hong Kong has been extensively reported in various local and international media.
